Frequently asked questions

What sort of things do you film on the day?
Our style is to generally not set up too many posed scenes….we leave the formal arrangements to the photographer and strive to capture a natural record of what your day entailed. This means that your final edited wedding film is not only an artistic representation of the day, but also a great companion (not a duplication!) to the work of your photographer.
However, we always stress that if there is absolutely anyone or anything you would like us to film on the day, just let us know and we are more than happy to.

How much do you film?
Obviously every wedding day is different due to factors such as ceremony/reception times, daylight saving and wedding style. However with all of our 'day / night' packages, your whole day is filmed - including groom's home, brides home, ceremony, photo sessions, full reception until couple leaves (12:00am).
The total duration of footage recorded depends predominantly on the day itself. However, as a guide, the majority of final unedited wedding footage for a full day / night shoot averages around three hours. We are very selective with our shots and if extra footage in excess of three hours total is requested (or if filming extends past 12:00am), extra charges may apply.

When do you start and finish filming?
Starting time depends on the day, however as a guide, we generally try to spend around two hours in both the bride and groom’s home and then basically stay with you for the rest of the day (and night for a day / night package). We sometimes need to leave the bridal party a little earier during the photo locations in order to set up at the reception location.
Our coverage of the reception extends to either the couple leaving, or 12:00am (whichever comes sooner). Filming beyond this period may incur additional costs.

Who will be filming our wedding?
In order to retain our high standards of creativity and quality, we only take a certain number of wedding bookings per year and we have only three in-house camera operators. You are able to request Anthony, Joshua or David specifically if you like (subject to availability) as your main camera operator.
We will always let you know up front, who is going to be the camera operator for your day. In many cases, two of us will be there anyway, working in tandem or working together, depending on your package.

Do you film in ‘widescreen’?
Yes, we use only professional digital cameras and lenses which record in 16:9 ratio (widescreen).

Can you produce High Definition DVD's?
Because DVD's are not high definition, we currently film and produce weddings in standard definition (unless requested otherwise).
We do however offer the options of:
1) Shooting, editing and archiving your wedding film in high definition if you desire - so that a full high def DVD can be produced for you in the future.
2) Shooting and editing in high def, and then provide you a high def film file which is playable on your specific computer/video device.
3) Shooting and editing your wedding film in high def, and then authoring the presentation into a Bluray disc.
There are obviously extra costs associated with all of these options.

Please contact us for further info and options regarding high definition as rapidly changing technology means these options may constantly evolve.

How long does the edited film run for?
The total duration of the final edited highlights films depends on the package and music chosen. Our approach is for the highest quality and not necessarily quantity within the actual edited highlights film. Instead of cramming all of the readings, speeches, and reception table shots etc. into the highlights film, our unique approach is to minimally edit these parts of the day (separately to the highlights film) and include separate access to them from the DVD's main menu......the only way to grasp it all is to view a selection of our completed packages in full.

It's important to note that with any package chosen, you also receive all of the unedited footage (on DVD) which includes full readings, vows, speeches etc.
See Packages for more details.

Can you change or customise any of your packages?
In most cases, couples are happy to choose one of the standard packages that suits them; perhaps adding some extra options ....however we are happy to customise a package for you if required.
Please contact us for any specific queries on packages and customisation options.

Can we choose our own music for the edit?
If you have one or more special songs that you'd like to use for your wedding film, we much prefer for you to choose your own music.. Just be aware when choosing music that songs which are slower or 'cruisier' tend to suit the flowing style of our edits.
We can also make suggestions for music choices if you like.

What's unique about your work?
Many people are unaware of the time and effort that accomplished producer will spend on filming and crafting your final wedding film. As with photography, the price if a wedding film will generally also reflect experience and quality of the producer’s work. We always recommend that couples view our previous work, as we believe the quality and value of our work speaks for itself.

Not only do we utilise fully professional camera equipment and years of experience producing high-quality documentary and advertising projects, but we incorporate a unique eye for detail and artistic cinematography techniques during the shoot. Following this, we spend a great deal of time to 'colour touch' and tweak every single shot in the edit with advanced professional imaging software...ensuring every second of your film-clip is up to our high standards.
...but just view our work and you will see the difference!

Do you retain master copies?
Yes, we keep the digital master tapes of all our weddings, as well as master copies of all authored/recorded DVD's. We are happy to make extra copies for you at any time in the future.

Are there any hidden costs?
In some cases there may be additional costs on top of our standard package pricing such as travel or extra elements within the final package...but these are not hidden from you. We ensure you are made fully aware of any extra costs associated 'up front'. We want all your surprises from your wedding film to be good ones! See Packages for more details.

Can you travel for Weddings?
Yes we certainly can. We are able to travel throughout the country (and the globe) in order to film your wedding. Obviously some additional charges to cover our travel and accommodation costs will apply (see next question).

Do you charge for travel?
There is no extra charge for travel when locations are within 40km the Adelaide CBD....although we are flexible on this. Travel costs beyond these distances are calculated and stated ‘up-front’ when determining the cost for your overall package. For extensive locations/distances, accommodation costs may also apply. We are available for weddings across the country and across the world.

Do you use lights?
Generally in most conditions the quality of our professional camera equipment and our experience allows us to utilise natural light only. At night and during the reception we utilise a minimal amount of extra lighting such as diffused on-camera lights in order to record the best quality image. In some circumstances, we may setup stand-mounted lighting at the reception, however this would be used sparingly and a balance between capturing the best quality images and the comfort of your guests is always paramount.

Do you require a meal at reception?
As is stated in our wedding coverage agreement, we require a seat and a meal at the reception, where the whole reception is being filmed.

Is payment required prior to wedding?
In order to secure your booking, we require a non-refundable deposit of $300 (including GST). An additional percentage of the total is then collected prior to the day (amount is dependant on package chosen).....with the final balance of your wedding film package then payable on collection/delivery of your final recorded and/or edited DVD's.

How long after a wedding shoot will our edited film/DVD be ready ?
We don’t rush the all-important edit stage, as it takes quite a while to select the best shots for the film and music, edit them all together and then colour grade every single shot ….we then author the final DVD with your personalised menu and any extras. We believe nobody else does it like we do and this is why we feel that our edited wedding films are worth a little wait.
The edit time also always depends on the time of year a wedding is filmed….for example Winter weddings are generally able to be completed quicker, due to the fact that there aren’t as many weddings on then. As a guide however, you can generally expect to wait 1 to 3 months following your wedding day (or even sooner), depending on the package you have chosen and any other contributing factors.

Do we get to preview our film before we get the final DVD's ?
We do not offer a standard preview of your edited wedding film for the Sapphire and Diamond Packages (unless this is specifically requested). If requested we can provide a preview service such as a personal viewing in our studio or even the emailing of a small movie clip version. Please note however, that extra costs may be applicable for a preview/approval facility (if creating and sending files etc.) and this needs to be arranged at the time of booking.
The Deluxe Package, however, includes a post edit preview clip as standard, for no extra cost.
If you have absolutely any queries that aren't answered here, please drop up a line by filling in our contact form, or call Anthony directly.
